Недоступен ни однин перевод. The OSRC (Open Source Remote Control) project that we initiated, had allot more interest than we anticipated this week. We were lucky enough to be mentioned in such places as Hackaday.com and Linuxfordevices.com where the Project was explained in more detail. It is still surprising that after 4 years since we have begun making Gizmos, not so many people actually know who we are or simply don't read any related information about the Projects that we made. Hopefully with the coverage in above mentioned sites we touch more people interested in technology and make this project as great as it can truly be. From the initial post of our project we have been asked by the Linuxfordevices.com as well as by Hackaday.com to provide any concepts we may have for the project. We were working on the design when this happened so after some late nights we generated the images seen here. These are just preliminary concepts which give us a starting point for the mechanical design with reference dimensions as well as topology of parts which will go inside. It is quite likely that the external look will most likely change by 10% due to adjustments made in mechanics to fit everything as needed but the overall look of the device should remain almost unchanged. As we progress with the schematics, the basic structure of the device has been laid out so that we have a more complete picture of what we are doing and can separate each part of the design for best efficiency. The Low-End schematics have already been almost complete since hardware-wise there wasn't much complexity. Currently we are developing and designing the High End part related to Gumstix which will host the Linux OS and other High-End functions. It is still too soon to do any PCB routing as the internal mechanics are still being developed so we need to finish those first and assemble virtually the entire device with every single switch. this way we know how much space we need and will have for the electronics and the boards. There is still allot of work to be done on the hardware part but nothing too complex, just time consuming and quite fun :) There is still time left before the Deadline in the IndieGoGo fund raiser for the project so if you are thinking about getting the device once it is released or being the first in line then head there and pledge the according perk. Time flies fast with these things and we are more than certain that once we finish the prototyping and manufacturing, these devices will go pretty fast, leaving us empty handed and waiting for a second manufacturing batch for those who haven't pledged yet. Spread the word, make your pledge and hopefully we reach our IndieGoGo goal before the deadline as it would be a shame to have all the designs for the device and no funds to actually make it. Power FaluresAlthough the Black-outs on our small island become more and more frequent, we are working on a self contained power system in our workshop which will be utilizing Solar and Wind alternatives. Already the entire workshop can be sustained without power for approximately 12 hours so there shouldn't be any more server failures from now on. If they happen we shall notify everyone, in which case it will be most likely caused by us upgrading the power unit it self. |
