We have spoken in the past about DeviceKnit, a great site for posting, reading or thinking about new implementations for hardware. We liked the site, idea and people working there so much that we decided to integrate the "DeviceKnit" feature into our project section and link the two sites together. As you will see from the image below we have added an extra Icon to the Project management section as well as the Project description (if pressed) which tells you if the Gizmo is available on DeviceKnit. By making it available on DeviceKnit we give the opportunity to any member to add new implementations, submit goals and in general see how the Gizmo can be used and for what it is used by others. If you are unfamiliar with DeviceKnit then we strongly recommend reading about it on their website.
The image on the Right shows exactly what we described above and as you can see this feature is already working and can be used by anyone. Don't forget that Projects can be edited, created and pretty much be available to anyone who wishes to contribute in one way or another. If there is something you don't quite understand then don't hesitate to post it in the Forum - > Site or simply Contact Us. We try to keep our project management as simple as possible but it might be confusing at first for some since it is not easy to keep everything organized without complicating things just a bit. If there are any suggestions or additions you would like to see in our Project Management section then don't hesitate to say so and we shall look into it immediately.
After many requests from members we have uploaded the schematics for the Latest FLOW G1.55 - v4 These schematics can be found in the Files section of the project and are available to any registered member. In these designs you shall see many minor as well as in some areas major changes which tweak the performance as well as fix some old bugs of the device. Have in mind that these designs can be found in KiCad format as well as in PDF so anyone should be able to look at them without needing additional software (excluding Acrobat Reader).
Additionally to the schematics for the latest FLOW G1.55 we also updated the Android build (with the relative checkout script). In this update we take care of some issues related to Sim Card Pin, WiFi and others. You can read more about the changes and updates in the script note we posted in the files section of the project.
Just a reminder, this is the last change we made (hardware wise) for the FLOW G1.5 (G1.55 in this case) and no more updates are planned for the Overo operated FLOW.
Another subject related to the Overo line of platforms from Gumstix is the Overo Robo PCB that was initiated by one of our members. First off we shall be changing the name of the project to Robi DIY since there is some conflict with the Overo trademark about which we posted in the Community Group. In any case, we think it sounds better and we like it, hopefully so shall everyone else.
We also have posted the Schematics for this Gizmo in the Project files section. If there is anyone who wants to add something to the design or thinks that there is a change needed to be made then don't hesitate to say so. Otherwise we shall be continuing with the manufacturing and publishing of this Gizmo. It's a great nifty PCB which allows anyone who owns an Overo platform to interface sensors, Servos, Buttons, LCD's, LED's and pretty much any other hardware for robotic development. We tried to keep the design as low budget as possible without removing any of the crucial components. Having this Gizmo affordable for everyone is our main concern and it should be clearly understood before making any comments about it's design.
That's pretty much it for now. Remember to Join the relative community group if you are interested in any of the Gizmos we make to keep up with their separate news and updates (which we also underline in our main news posts). Comment about anything you like or don't like and post questions if needed. Donate to any project you think is worth your attention and contribute with your ideas for others to see. We are always here to answer any requests and help with anything you might have on your mind. In general have fun and Keep Those Wishes Coming! |
