One to rule them all!

During these past few months we initiated a strong campaign so that as many people as possible would know that a new breed of RC Controller would be born. News about the OSRC project have been posted on sites such as Hack A Day, Linux For Devices as well as other well known Blogs and forums, in many different languages and with various opinions. Since doing Open Source hardware isn't always as simple as it seems and in some cases requires even more founds than a conventional commercial product, we initiated a campaign through IndieGoGo so that we have all the resources required for prototype completion and R&D. Initial budget goals were set, mechanical designs were created and initial software was written.

Unfortunately the IndieGoGo campaign, after 60 days did not reach the financial goal we aimed for. However disappointing this may be, some founds were gathered by RC enthusiasts and engineers as an initial sum for the Project. Although the amount currently available for the development of the idea is small, we decided to continue with development anyway and bring the idea to reality. The OSRC initiative gained great momentum and it would be a shame not to realize all of the potential a device such as this could have.

Currently we are working on redesigning mechanical aspects of the device based on some original new technology provided to us by an ingenious organization that deals with motion control. Besides the mechanical aspect we are also modifying some crucial design features on the electronic side of the project to make the system even more modular and allow OSRC to be even more affordable for beginners. Many aspects, modules and upgradable components will be available for OSRC for those who need a complete control station so it is important to design everything reliably and prototype all components as few times as possible based on our current budget.

Some RC enthusiasts have called our idea as One to rule them all, so we want this to be just that and potentially make some heads turn when it comes to an Up To Date system without forgetting that the final price will play a great part. We have many plans for the project among which is its own dedicated site with support and updates as well as sales options. Although the site is still being developed, we can say for certain that we are devoting most of our resources to make this happen and will be expanding our team to accommodate the OSRC project along with all its goodies.

For the time being there is nothing left for us to do than to prototype the device and begin testing it, since we already said everything there is to be said about the idea, its features and potential in the RC world.

Project Financing

Since the IndieGoGo campaign has ended, if you are interested in contributing to the project or even claim one of the perks mentioned in the IndieGoGo campaign such as Pre-Ordering The Device or being the First In Line for the release of the system then feel free to visit the Financing section of our site and place your contribution there.

As we create the device, any updates or news about OSRC shall be posted in its Community Group. If you wish to stay up to date, make sure to join the group. Feel free to comment in the Forum about the project, contribute your ideas and suggestions or simply discuss something related on your mind.

Languages

As you may have noticed we are currently supporting 2 languages for our site which are English and Russian with Greek on the way. Since all translations done so far were manual by members of our team and my self, the content is not entirely complete as we simply do not have enough time to write all articles in 3 languages. Couple of days ago one of our members was kind enough to offer and translate the site to Russian and for that reason we are preparing a specific member control panel. If you think you can contribute by doing a translation on something as small as a module or something as large as an article, then feel free to Contact Us and we shall be more than happy to grant you access to the translation control panel.
